Offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson picks up two All-America honors

Offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson started 11 games for the Hurricanes, grading out at 88.4 percent.

University of Miami offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson has capped a solid collegiate football season with a pair of freshman All-America accolades.

CollegeFootballNews.com has named Henderson a First-Team Freshman All-American. The magazine described Henderson as “one of the biggest linemen in the country and a five-star recruit,” adding that “he got better as the season progressed, earning the start at right tackle, grading out at 88.4 percent with 15 pancake [blocks].”

Henderson also has been named second-team freshman All-American by Rivals.com and writer David Fox. Below are highlights of Henderson’s 2010 season:

Miami’s offensive production increased when Henderson moved into the starting lineup against Clemson. UM’s offense produced 212 rushing yards per game with Henderson starting at tackle. When he was not starting at tackle, Miami averaged just 125 rushing yards per game.

Total offense also improved to 440 yards per game with Henderson as a starter, compared to 368.3 yards per game before he entered the lineup.

Two other UM players, linebacker Sean Spence and wide receiver Leonard Hankerson, received honorable mention All-American honors from SI.com.
