Business Development Program Accepting Nominations for Vendor in the Spotlight

The Business Development Program is accepting nominations for Vendor in the Spotlight (VIS). The VIS Program is an opportunity to showcase women- and minority-owned businesses that have exceeded the University’s expectations. Winners are selected quarterly and are featured on the Business Development Program website. Please reflect on your vendor contacts and consider submitting a nomination form. Nominations are due on Friday, February 25. Click here to learn about the current second quarter winner.

The Vendor in the Spotlight Program (VIS) is designed to engage internal and external stakeholders in UM’s supplier diversity initiatives, as well as to increase the participation of women and minorities in procurement opportunities at the University. The VIS program will focus on the recognition of women- and minority-owned vendors that have exceeded the University’s expectation of superior service, exceptional quality, and competitive pricing. It will also spotlight small certified businesses that demonstrate a standard of excellence and wish to conduct business with the University.

Program Guidelines

• The vendor selected for VIS will be featured quarterly (every three months) on the website.
• Selection will be based on results from the vendor performance evaluation form submitted by departments and/or divisions.
• Eligible vendors showcased on VIS can be nominated for external recognition programs: Southern Florida Minority Supplier Development Council’s annual Supplier of the Year Award; Minority Enterprise Development Week’s annual recognition event; and Women Business Enterprise Center’s annual awards event.
• Incumbent vendors will be evaluated in five categories.
