This Thursday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m., the Kenneth Lattman Foundation Series continues at the Cosford Cinema with Cold Weather, starring Cris Lankenau, of Miami.  A question-and-answer session with Lankenau follows the film, which will also screen on Friday, April 15 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 16 at 6 p.m.; and Sunday, April 17 at 4 p.m.

Cold Weather is not your usual detective story. After abandoning a promising academic career in forensic science, a self-styled Sherlock Holmes, Doug (Cris Lankenau), returns to Portland to live with his more responsible big sister Gail (Trieste Kelly Dunn). He lands a dead-end job working in an ice factory, but soon finds an opportunity to use his passion and skill in detective work when his ex-girlfriend Rachel (Robyn Rikoon) goes missing. Enlisting a team of ramshackle slacker-sleuths, Doug leads his team down a complex trail of clues to discover the mysterious truth about what happened to Rachel. To watch the trailer, click here.

The Kenneth Lattman Foundation Lecture Series at the Bill Cosford Cinema features films built on innovative storytelling and created by some of the brightest filmmakers today. The series brings audiences “back to the movie theater” to watch exceptional films together. Each screening is followed by a discussion with University of Miami film experts, distinguished industry VIPs, the audience, and other guests who explore the scholarly, professional, and artistic merits of each film.

General admission is $9; seniors, non-UM students, UM employees, and alumni are $7. Free for UM students. Purchase tickets in advance online or at the box office the day of the event. For more information, visit www.cosfordcinema.com/lattmanfilmseries.
