Department of Philosophy Lecture Series: Portraits and Death: Rendering Absence and Loss in Art

The University of Miami’s Department of Philosophy and the Miami Art Museum present the Eighth Annual Parodi Lecture in Philosophy of Art with Cynthia Freeland, professor and chair philosophy at the University of Houston. Freeland will present “Portraits and Death: Rendering Absence and Loss in Art” on Sunday, December 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Miami Art Museum, 101 W. Flagler Street. Freeland is the author of Portraits and Persons, But Is it Art?, The Naked and the Undead: Evil and the Appeal of Horror, and numerous articles on aesthetics, ancient philosophy, and feminist theory.
