UM Student Wins Kairos 50 Award for Innovative Venture

University of Miami freshman Ketan Rahangdale, creator of EarTop Technologies LLC, a Launch Pad venture, has won the Kairos 50 award.

The Kairos 50 (K50) annually recognizes the world’s most innovative ventures started by university students. The distinguished list is made up of diverse ventures with the ability to change the world through innovation in education, clean energy, health care, technology, commerce, and other areas. Rahangdale initiated his project through The Launch Pad, the University of Miami’s unique entrepreneurship initiative.

EarTop Technologies focuses on simplifying the lives of people by providing a wireless alternative to any of their currently wired devices. EarTop is using state-of-the-art technologies such as Bluetooth 4.0, light-beam forming, and acoustic echo cancellation to produce high-quality, unique, wireless, audio-tech products. EarTop also has plans for creating other wireless products.

In addition to gaining global recognition, recipients of the Kairos 50 award were invited to the prestigious Kairos Global Summit, held February 3-4 at the United Nations, New York Stock Exchange, and Rockefeller Estate in New York City.

At the global summit, the 50 award winners were honored on the trading floor of the NYSE, with 350 top young entrepreneurs, 150 world leaders, and leading global press outlets in attendance. By recognizing and supporting these 50 university ventures from around the world, The Kairos Society is helping the world’s future leaders drive the high-growth and high-impact innovation that will lead to a better tomorrow.

The Launch Pad is part of the Toppel Career Planning and Placement Center and strives to provide students and alumni with the guidance and resources they need to transform innovative ideas into sustainable enterprises.
