First Starbucks on Medical Campus Opens in University of Miami Hospital Lobby

    Starbucks at UMHUM President Donna E. Shalala cut the ribbon last week to open the new Starbucks in the lobby of University of Miami Hospital, the first of the popular coffee shops on the medical school campus. Another is slated to open in the Calder Memorial Library on the other side of campus.

    The president was joined at the November 18 ribbon-cutting ceremony by, from left, Pascal J. Goldschmidt, M.D., Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean of the Miller School of Medicine and CEO of UHealth; Aileen M. Ugalde, Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of the University; UMH CEO Dan Snyder; Sebastian the Ibis; Joe Natoli, Senior Vice President for Business and Finance and Chief Financial Officer; and John R. Shipley, Vice President of Finance and Treasurer.

    Hospital employees joined the leadership team in celebrating the arrival of Starbucks, which will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
