CORAL GABLES, Fla. (February 11, 2014) — Nilda (Nena) Peragallo Montano, dean and professor of the School of Nursing and Health Studies, has been selected for induction into the Sigma Theta Tau International’s (STTI) International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame. The honor society of nursing will recognize Peragallo Montano for her lifetime achievements as a nurse scientist at an induction ceremony at the 24th STTI Nursing Research Congress in Hong Kong in July.
Peragallo Montano, an internationally recognized nursing scientist who specializes in health disparities and culturally competent interventions with minority populations, has devoted her 35-plus-year research and academic career to improving the health status of minorities and other medically underserved populations.
The International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame eternally honors nurse researchers who are Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing members, who have achieved significant and sustained national and/or international recognition for their work, and whose research has impacted the profession and the people it serves.
