Miami Law Alumna and Immigration Advocate Cheryl Little to Be Honored at Lawyer of the Americas Banquet

    CORAL GABLES, FL (March 18, 2014) – Cheryl Little, J.D. ’85, a tireless advocate for immigrant rights for more than two decades, will be honored at the 32nd Annual Lawyer of the Americas Banquet hosted by the University of Miami Inter-American Law Review on Thursday, April 3, at the InterContinental Hotel, 100 Chopin Plaza, Miami.

    Little’s extensive involvement in immigration dates back to 1985, when, upon graduating with honors from UM’s School of Law, she began working at the Haitian Refugee Center. In January 1996 she co-founded the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center, Inc., now Americans for Immigrant Justice, and serves as its executive director. She has received numerous honors and awards for her work, including the 2008 Morris Dees Justice Award. ABC News once named her “Person of the Week.”

    Ticket prices are $100 per person, $1000 for a table of 10; Sponsors (with recognition in program) $250 per person, $2500 for table of 10; and Benefactor (with recognition in program) $500 per person, $5000 for table of 10. A cocktail reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m.
