Four distinguished alumni round out this year’s inaugural Regional Alumni Awards Ceremony, to be hosted in Los Angeles, California, on Friday, June 5, at a private country club. These outstanding individuals will be honored for their accomplishments and dedication to our alma mater. Among the notable recipients is filmmaker, writer, and actor Sylvester Stallone, B.F.A. ’98, who will be honored with the Edward T. Foote Alumnus of Distinction Award for his outstanding professional career, including the Academy Award-winning motion picture Rocky and the Rambo and Expendables franchises.

    Additional alumni honorees include:

    • Butler Community Service Award: Austen Everett, A.B. ’11*, who established the Austen Everett Foundation, which pairs up college and pro athletes with countless cancer-stricken children in an effort to inspire and reignite their spirit during a difficult time in their lives.
    • Stanford Alumnus of the Year Award: Two President’s Council members will receive the honor of Alumnus of the Year, including Karl Schulze, B.B.A. ’74, for his continued support of the University through the establishment of the UM Ethics Bowl, a program that has flourished since its inception nearly ten years ago to include a National Championship win and placement in the national event’s final four, and mid-Atlantic region co-champion; and Jeanne Hart Wolf,  A.B. ’61, M.A. ’66, for her establishment of the Jeanne Wolf Scholarship to benefit students studying at the School of Communication, continued efforts as host committee member of the ’Canes Film Showcase, and her longtime engagement of alumni in the greater Los Angeles area.

This invitation-only event will be a celebration of notable alumni for their achievements as well as an evening to recognize the University’s most loyal donors on the West Coast.

Based on the most recent alumni survey, alumni want increased regional programming and recognition of volunteers. As such, the UM Alumni Association will continue to program regionally in future years, selecting top alumni markets in the U.S. to host future Regional Alumni Awards ceremonies.
