Jaime Suchlicki, director of the University of Miami’s Institute for Cuba and Cuban-American Studies, will participate in a roundtable discussion, titled “Cuba and Iran: Marriage of Convenience or Dangerous Alliance,” at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, May 14. Other participants in the 1 p.m. discussion, which is sponsored by the David Rockefeller Studies Program, include the council’s Ray Takeyh and Elliott Abrams, senior fellows for Middle Eastern studies. Suchlicki is the Emilio Bacardi Moreau Professor of History. His research focuses on Cuba, Mexico, and U.S.-Latin American relations, and he has published numerous books on these subjects, including Cuba: From Columbus to Castro (2006), Mexico: From Montezuma to NAFTA, (2003) and the Historical Dictionary of Cuba (2001).
