The Institute for Cuba and Cuban-American Studies’ second Cesar L. Alvarez Series “Cubans in America” program will feature Carlos Alberto Montaner, a journalist, writer, and analyst for CNN in Spanish, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, at Casa Bacardi, 1531 Brescia Avenue, on the Coral Gables campus.
Named by Foreign Policy magazine as one of Latin America’s most influential intellectuals, the Havana-born Montaner will be interviewed in Spanish by ICCAS research analyst Pedro Roig, a historian and lawyer who served as director of the U.S. Office of Cuba Broadcasting, which oversee Radio and TV Marti, from 2003 to 2010.
The author of more than 20 books, Montaner has been a college professor at various universities in Latin America and the United States, where his weekly column appears in dozens of newspapers.
