CORAL GABLES, Fla. (September 3, 2015)—With a newly renovated Hurricane Food Court and dining halls, new vegetarian and Kosher offerings, and other expanded dining options, the fall semester has ushered in many appealing changes for the ever-changing Generation Z demographic while taking into consideration student feedback and every other palate on campus.

Fresh Fusion, the new vegetarian concept co-located with Jamba Juice in the Shalala Student Center, offers noodle and rice bowls, naan salads, specialty grilled cheese sandwiches, and other new twists on old favorites. Fresh Fusion is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Relocated from the front of the Merrick Building, Pita Pad is now offering an expansive Kosher menu, including deli sandwiches, hot entrees, fresh fruit, desserts, and much more, at the Corner Deli inside the Outtakes convenience store at the Hurricane Food Court. The Corner Deli is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Whether you’re stopping in for a quick lunch or taking dinner home to your family, be sure to visit all the Hurricane Food Court favorites, including Subway, Innovation Kitchen, Sushi Maki, Pollo Tropical, Panda Express, Tossed and Built Custom Burgers. Located across the plaza in the Whitten University Center, Lime offers fresh Mexican fare, while two Starbucks locations, one in the Richter Library and the other in the Shalala Student Center, are available for your coffee fix.

Just a short walk or shuttle ride from the center of campus, Sebastian’s Café, located in the Newman Alumni Center, and the Courtside Eatery, located in the Herbert Wellness Center, have added new menu items, including chops at Sebastian’s and pressed paninis and new smoothies at the Courtside Eatery.

And don’t forget that the revamped and expanded Mahoney-Pearson and Hecht-Stanford dining halls, which provide healthy choices in a market-style environment, are not for students only. Now available for the second year, faculty and staff meal plans are valid at both halls. Variety, healthy options, and convenience are just a few of the advantages you’ll enjoy from your faculty and staff meal plan. For more information about the dining plans, contact Dining Services at 305-284-3584 or Chartwells at 305-284-2715.

And stay tuned. Dining Services is committed to staying current and creating destination dining, so change is always on the horizon. Recognizing that dietary preferences and sensitivities, such as vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free, are on the rise, Dining Services continues to work with culinary professionals to develop more flavorful recipes for evolving taste buds.
