CORAL GABLES, Fla. (September 9, 2015) – Channel your inner yogi at UM’s Largest Yoga Class, a campus-wide event celebrating National Yoga Month. The Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center invites all UM students, faculty, and staff (members and non-members) to join this free group yoga class at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22 in the Herbert Wellness Center’s Centre Court, located on the first floor.

This event is also part of the Partnership for a Healthier America’s Healthy Campus Initiative. UM is one of 26 schools partnered with PHA to promote healthy lifestyles on campus through nutritious food options and physical activity opportunities. During the week of September 21, the Herbert Wellness Center is teaming up with UM Dining Services, Human Resources, and other campus departments to highlight and promote UM’s health and wellness initiatives via social media using #HealthyCampus.

“Hosting UM’s Largest Yoga Class is one of the major special events we have planned in honor of our 20th anniversary,” said Mike Piacentino, communications and marketing specialist at the Herbert Wellness Center. “Whether you’ve never tried yoga before or you’re an expert, we hope to bring together the entire UM community in an event promoting the many different dimensions of wellness.”

The first 200 attendees at the event will receive a free special edition 20th anniversary beach towel. All participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat, and a valid ’Cane Card is required to attend. For event updates, visit the Facebook event page.

The Herbert Wellness Center is celebrating 20 years of defining wellness for the University of Miami community with several special programs and events throughout the year, culminating with its 20th Anniversary Celebration on February 2.
