The Department of Managed Print Services has learned of a possible printer/copier toner scam targeting University of Miami departments. A small number of departments have been contacted repeatedly by an individual claiming to be a Canon employee. The caller has been trying to obtain Canon device information, including IP addresses and serial numbers. UM employees are urged not to provide any device information. Canon employees can be identified by their use of Canon’s official email (@csa.canon.com) and/or by a UM vendor ID.
