Yoga has been shown to increase flexibility and balance, improve mood and reduce fatigue, sleep disturbances and joint discomfort. In this 50-minute seminar presented by the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), participants will learn gentle and modified yoga poses to allow them to safely stretch, strengthen and relax the body in a chair with a combination of movement, controlled breathing and meditation.

The seminar, which will conclude with mindfulness practice, will be facilitated by Angela Alvarado, a member of the University of Miami Mind-Body Medical Work Group, who teaches yoga, Pranayama and meditation to the patients, caregivers, doctors and nurses at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and University of Miami Hospital.
