TeamUM’s 2017 United Way Campaign kicked off August 1 and is once again chaired by Jacqueline R. Menendez, vice president for University Communications. This year she is joined by Roymi Membiela, associate vice president for marketing and communications and chief patient experience officer at the Miller School of Medicine and UHealth, who will lead their component of the TeamUM 2017 United Way Campaign.

Last year TeamUM raised nearly $1 million for the United Way of Miami-Dade, with participation from faculty and staff throughout the University.

To give, simply log on to Workday, click on “GIVE” found on the homepage, then follow the instructions to make your donation. United Way will distribute your donation according to your wishes. You can assign your United Way contribution in one of three ways:

    • Designating it to a University of Miami fund
    • Designating it to a specific not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization
    • Unrestricted to United Way – directing it to education, health, or financial stability. Each unrestricted dollar contributed to the United Way is matched by federal and state grant programs, turning that dollar into $2.51.

The University of Miami’s 2017 United Way Campaign runs through December 31. If you have any questions concerning your United Way gift, please contact your department’s ambassador or email the campaign managers at
