Sarah Artecona Appointed to Red Cross Board

    Sarah Nesbitt Artecona, associate vice president of community engagement at the University of Miami, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Greater Miami and the Keys Chapter of the American Red Cross.

    During her three-year-term, Artecona, a Miami native who joined the University 17 years ago from Miami-Dade County government, with work with local leaders to mobilize volunteers and donors in the event of a local emergency.

    “South Florida is ground zero for tropical weather conditions. We have also been affected by other emergencies as well. I’m delighted to join an organization that takes an active role in helping those affected by emergency events,” Artecona said.

    One of five Red Cross chapters in the South Florida region, the Greater Miami and the Keys’ chapter serves more than 2 million residents of Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, providing shelter, food, clothing and emotional support to those affected by house fires, floods, and weather-related emergencies.
