Register Now for 50th Annual Neurology and Stroke Intensive Conference February 9-11

Neurology&Stroke The 50th annual Neurology and Stroke Intensive course, presented by the Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Neurology at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay on Thursday and Friday, February 9-10, will provide clinicians with the most recent developments in the diagnosis and management of neurologic disorders, including stroke.

It will cover the latest advances in the different fields of neurology and neuroscience, including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, CNS infections, and migraine, all of which are critical in solving clinical problems, diagnosing and treating patients, and improving the quality of patient care.

In addition, a dedicated stroke seminar on Saturday, February 11, is designed as a stand-alone, eight-hour CME activity. For centers planning to seek stroke center status or already designated as a stroke center, this course will provide stroke teams with the most up-to-date evidence in the field of stroke diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

In addition, difficult diagnostic and therapeutic problems in movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, and stroke will be presented, including an exchange of information between faculty and attendees with case presentations, dedicated discussions, and question-and-answer sessions after each presentation, as well as panel discussions.

Cheer on the Marlins June 3 and Raise Funds for ALS Research

The 8th Annual Happy Hour benefiting the ALS Recovery Fund will be held Tuesday, June 3, at Marlins Stadium, when the Miami Marlins take on the Tampa Bay Rays. A silent auction and raffle starts at 5:30 p.m. and the first pitch is at 7:10 p.m. A portion of each ticket will benefit the ALS Recovery Fund, which is dedicated to raising awareness, promoting research and education, and raising funds for research and patient care provided by physicians and scientists at the Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Neurology. Commonly known as “Lou Gehrig’s disease,” ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease of the nervous system. Happy Hour tickets, which cost $30 each and must be purchased in advance, include standing room in the Clevelander, one complimentary domestic beer or glass of wine, and appetizers. ALS Research and Patient Care at the Miller School Gets $1 Million Boost

The ALS Recovery Fund, a steadfast ally in the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, has pledged another $1 million to the Department of Neurology for its continued ALS research and patient support.

The gift will expand upon the Miller School of Medicine’s existing programs and provide additional resources, including researchers and a dedicated health care professional to coordinate the unification and integration of the ALS Clinical and Research Programs. Read the full story
