CORAL GABLES, Fla. (April 29, 2015) – Have you ever thought about learning how to belly dance? How about the ancient practice of karate? The Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center offers members and non-members a variety of classes that not only get the heart pumping but put the brain to work. As an added bonus, the first meeting of each class is free to try.
“Being on a college campus, one of the dimensions of wellness that we place particular importance on is intellectual wellness,” says Michelle Kasparian, assistant director of group exercise and community classes at the Herbert Wellness Center. “While we love the many physical benefits of our instructional classes, we also ensure that participants leave the class having learned a new skill or perfected skills they already possessed.”
Class offerings include martial arts like tai chi and karate, instructional tennis, dance classes featuring belly dance and ballet barre, and instructional aquatics designed for adults and youth swimmers of all levels.
Registration for group instructional classes is open May 4-15, with the free trial period running May 11-17. Youth swim registration opens on May 11 and closes on May 15. Registration is available online at miami.edu/wellness or by contacting the Herbert Wellness Center sales office at 305-284-5433 or [email protected]. In-person registration is also available in the sales office.
