The summer is winding down and it’s time to gear up for the arrival of the newest class of first-year and transfer ’Canes. Welcoming new students and their family members to campus and helping them acclimate to life as a ’Cane is important to their early success at UM.

With that in mind, the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, in partnership with the Division of Student Affairs, is requesting volunteers to staff information stations around campus on Tuesday, August 16 through Thursday, August 18 during New Student and Family Orientation. Volunteers will help direct students and parents around campus, answer questions related to the orientation schedule, distribute water, and assist in creating a positive impression of life at UM.

If you are available to volunteer for any or all of these days, and with the approval of your supervisor, please sign up HERE or copy and paste this address into your internet browser: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090c4aa5a622aafd0-newstudent/. Signups will be accepted until Wednesday, August 10.

Volunteers are requested to wear a University of Miami polo, their name tag, and khaki bottoms (no shorts). There also will be a short training session (scheduled for Friday, August 12 from 11 a.m. to noon) to help answer any question. We thank you for your consideration of this important opportunity.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Cristina Orbeta.
