Remaining Resourceful during Times of Stress


Gain an understanding of common workplace stressors and learn strategies for developing resourceful responses. Offered by the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), this seminar will troubleshoot the difficulties encountered when confronting different types of stressors as well as review effective stress management techniques. FSAP Health and Wellness seminars are offered as part of the University of Miami’s Well ’Canes Program.

Coral Gables campus: Tuesday, October 9 from 12 to 1 p.m. in the McKnight Building, second-floor training room.

Miller School of Medicine campus: Wednesday, October 10 from 12 to 1 p.m. in Dominion Parking Garage, Room 155.

Strengthen Leadership Skills through Workforce Engagement and Development’s Competency-Based Programs


Workforce Engagement and Development offers two competency-based programs that focus on developing and improving employee skills. The competencies were developed by University practitioners and represent the critical skills required to meet current and future challenges of the University. If you are looking for ways to strengthen and/or develop your leadership skills, the Leadership Academy will help you achieve your goals. Leadership Academy provides professional development programs for existing and future leaders of the organization. Attend a competency-based overview session to learn more about the programs’ structure and benefits. Cool-Headed Strategies for Parenting Tweens and Teens (Part 2)


Are you coping with the challenges of parenting a preteen or teenager? This informative two-part seminar, offered by the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), demonstrates how humor, wisdom, and understanding can make a big difference in what is often considered the ultimate parenting challenge. Learn how to stay calm and cool-headed while dealing with hot-button issues such as rude attitudes, lying, and succumbing to peer pressure. The seminar will review easy-to-follow suggestions for setting limits while maintaining a close and loving relationship. FSAP Health and Wellness seminars are offered as part of the University of Miami’s Well ’Canes Program.

You Can Stay in Your Home


This lunchtime seminar, offered through the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), will review the federal mortgage relief programs available to qualifying homeowners. Mortgage payment assistance, loan modification, and short sales will be discussed to help participants make informed decisions. Maria Gaitan, housing and business development manager with Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc., will help participants explore these options. Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc. is a HUD-approved nonprofit credit and housing counseling agency. FSAP seminars are offered as part of the University of Miami’s Well ’Canes Program.

Miller School of Medicine campus: Tuesday, September 4 from 12 to 1 p.m. at University of Miami Hospital, Seminar Center, Room C.

Coral Gables campus: Wednesday, September 5 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Whitten University Center, Room 245.
