Performance appraisals are undergoing a metamorphosis not imagined several years ago. Fortune 500 companies are getting rid of traditional performance appraisals and performance rankings. They are focusing more on goals and documented dialogue throughout the year.

In light of current trends, best practices, and our culture transformation, the University is asking employees to take a short survey about the current appraisal process, which is now underway, and to help the Performance Management Committee (PMC) design the next-generation performance appraisal.

Assembled by Human Resources, the PMC is a group of 30 UM employees who represent a cross section of the University’s faculty and staff from all campuses and satellite offices. Members are charged with completely revamping the University’s performance management process and the evaluation form.

Created by the PMC, the anonymous survey is the best way for employees to participate in the redesign and provide candid feedback about the overall performance process and evaluation form. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey now.

The PMC also will be conducting Evaluation Transformation Focus Groups across all UM campuses, which will enable employees to provide more valuable information about what our new performance management process should look like.

Thank you for providing your feedback.
