CORAL GABLES, Fla. (February, 15, 2017) – Immerse yourself in a state of reflection, relaxation, and rumination this spring at the Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center. In association with Sri Chinmoy Centres International and UMindfulness, the Herbert Wellness Center offers free meditation and mindfulness classes open to members and non-members.

Find your inner peace and quiet your mind at a free meditation class presented by the Department of Wellness and Recreation and Sri Chinmoy Centres International. Led by longtime meditation instructor Lunthita Duthely, each class encourages mental clarity and discipline as well as creativity and inner peace in your pursuit of personal satisfaction. The next two classes are on Monday, February 27 at 7:45 p.m. and Friday, March 3 at 12:30 p.m.

“Lunthita is a remarkable instructor,” says Christina WooChing, wellness program administrator at the Herbert Wellness Center. “Her dedication and passion for meditation is reflected in every session she shares with participants.”

In a partnership between the Herbert Wellness Center and UMindfulness, “Sound of the Bell” gives participants a safe space to explore mindfulness practice using sound. Participants will discover their innate capacity to focus, pay attention, and expand their awareness to fully embrace life. The free class, taught by Timothy Conner of the Frost School of Music and longtime practitioner of mindfulness, begins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7 and is open to all UM students, faculty, and staff.

Mindfulness and Compassion Workshop” introduces participants to practicing compassion and mindfulness in every day activities. Led by Scott Rogers, co-founder of the UMindfulness Research and Practice Initiative, this new workshop is on Thursday, April 20 at noon.

“University life can often become stressful for students and employees alike,” says WooChing. “We have forged an incredible partnership with UMindfulness, which has resulted in advantageous programs for the UM community, helping students, faculty, and staff relax and relieve stress.”

Reserve your spot in all sessions by contacting the Herbert Wellness Center sales office at 305-284-5433 or registering online.
