    IronArrow-Fall2017

With the telltale beating of a single drum and a tap on the shoulder with an iron arrow, members of the Iron Arrow Honor Society renewed one of the U’s greatest traditions during homecoming week, marching across the University in a solemn procession to bestow one of the U’s greatest honors: membership in the organization that recognizes students, faculty, staff, and alumni who exemplify love of alma mater, character, leadership, scholarship, and humility.

In addition to stellar faculty–Faculty Senate Chair Tomas Salerno, a renowned cardiac surgeon at the Miller School of Medicine, the School of Communication’s Tsitsi Wakhisi, faculty advisor to The Miami Hurricane, and John Paul Russo, chair and founder of the Classics Department, among them–new members include many amazing students. Among them: UM dive captain Wally Layland, Emily Guilmette, captain of the Frost Band of the Hour marching band, and Chelsea-Jane “CJ’’ Arcalas, president of the Council of International Students and Organizations (COISO).
