The UM women’s and men’s club volleyball teams celebrate their success at the 2013 NCVF Championships in Dallas.

The University of Miami men’s club volleyball team captured the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Championship in Dallas, Texas, taking first place in the D-IAA Gold Bracket with a 9-0 record.

Team member Pedro Schneider was named Most Valuable Player in D-IAA Gold Bracket competition. Andre Abadin was selected to the all-tournament first team, Mark Tkaczuk was named to the all-tournament second team, and Brett Hollenbach received honorable mention accolades.

The UM women’s club team finished 6-1 in the D-IAAA Gold Bracket to place third at the NCVF Championships, which were held April 4-6. Lizzie Hale was named to the all-tournament first team, while Andrea Garcia won honorable mention.

“In short, it was a year like no other,” said Dan Marinberg, shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and head coach of the UM women’s and men’s club volleyball squads. “Between our two teams we lost only one match and were just shy of two national championships. The third place finish is the best our women’s team has had, at least in my almost 12 years now of coaching at UM.”
