As the University of Miami winds down its fiscal year, staff members in the Office of Annual Giving are all hands on deck, doing everything they can to ensure that every alumnus, parent, friend, and employee of the University who wants to make a gift to the institution can easily do so.
An ever-increasing number of these donors are doing so online—through email, the Web, and even social media. Online giving has increased 175 percent in the last four years, in large part because of marketing efforts that make it a fun, interactive experience. The next step in this evolution is video. “Alumni of all ages are joining Gen X’ers and Millennials by relying more on visual storytelling to support causes that are important to them, including their alma maters,” says Scott Siegel, senior development director in the Office of Annual Giving.
As a result, the Office of Annual Giving has unveiled its latest video, “It’s a ‘Canes Thing.” The two-minute video quickly encapsulates why it’s great to be a Miami Hurricane while making a compelling case for support. Faculty and staff are encouraged to watch the video and participate in the University’s Momentum2 campaign by making a gift that is meaningful to them.
