The University of Miami’s IT Security Department will host “Exploring the Brave New World: Real Problems, Real Answers,” a conference on cybersecurity, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 22 at the BankUnited Center Fieldhouse.
Organized in partnership with the Information Systems Security Association South Florida Chapter, the conference will feature Joe Sullivan, Uber’s chief security officer, Pete Nicoletti, Hertz’s chief information security officer, and other IT leaders in government, health care, commercial enterprise, and other industries discussing such relevant and provocative topics as “The New Assassins – Murder by Keyboard,” a panel discussion exploring whether the threat of hackers accessing medical devices is real, or just the stuff of movies.
There is no charge for the conference, but UM students, faculty and staff, industry professionals, and SFISSA members are encouraged to register now at exploresecurity.eventbrite.com.
