The Launch Pad at Toppel, the innovative resource center for budding entrepreneurs developed at UM with the School of Business Administration Entrepreneurship Program, kicks off Global Entrepreneurship Week with its annual Miami Entrepreneurs Resources Fair on Monday, November 16, which will be followed by a keynote address by the founder of Hotels.com and getaroom.com. Free and open to the public, the events continue through Novermber 19 and include:

Miami Entrepreneurs Resources Fair, in the lower lounge of the Whitten University Center, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Fouad H. Scandar Memorial Speaker Series presents Bob Diener, founder of Hotels.com and getaroom.com, who will discuss the launch and growth of the world’s most successful travel booking website, and his decision to sell.

Show Me the Money! – A Conversation about Securing Investment, from 8 to 9 p.m. at the Toppel Career Center Loft
Angel investors and VCs from Miami and around the country will discuss the fundraising process and what it takes to raise money for a startup in our local ecosystem. Moderated by Matt Haggman, of The Knight Foundation, the panelists will include Jason Shuman, from Corigin Ventures; Jack Karabees, from the Miami Innovation Fund; and Bob Williamson, of New World Angel.

The Launch Pad and the UM School of Law offer a presentation by LegalTech Labs, a Miami-based legal technology incubator, followed by a panel of distinguished attorneys in the startup field discussing the legal issues startups face. Moderated by UM Law’s Dan Ravicher, the director of the Larry Hoffman|Greenberg Traurig Startup Law Practicum, the panel includes Jacqueline Hodes, of DLA Piper; Michael Serotte, of Serotte Law; Jamie Vining, from Friedland Vining, P.A.; and Brent Friedman, from GC360 & Brent A.
