The University of Miami hosted Hiring Heroes, its inaugural veterans career fair, on Tuesday, November 10, at the BankUnited Center Fieldhouse. More than 75 veterans and active-duty personnel with experience ranging from nursing to customer service participated in the event. Managers throughout the organization showed their support by conducting on-site interviews with qualified candidates who possessed the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the University’s continued growth and success.
“As a fellow veteran, it is important for us to give back whenever possible,” said Marie Lissade, supervisor for patient access at UHealth Connect. “We interviewed some remarkable people with incredible stories.”
In addition, the University was also recognized by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense agency that promotes employer and community support for those serving in the armed forces, for its commitment to being an employer of choice for the veteran community and its dedication to the professional advancement of veterans.
