April is National Donate Life Month and Friday, April 15 is National Blue and Green Day, making it the perfect time to register as an organ, eye, and tissue donor and to celebrate those who have saved lives through the gift of donation.
It’s easy and rewarding. Just register online by visiting www.DonateLifeFlorida.org, and know that organ donors can save up to eight lives and tissue donors can enhance the lives of many more men, women, and children who depend on the generosity of others to receive the vital care they require.
By showing your creativity in blue and green—Donate Life colors—on National Blue and Green Day you could also win a $100 Amazon gift card. Just send your best blue and green photo to the Donate Life America Facebook page between Friday, April 15 and Tuesday, April 19 by 11:59 pm ET, in one of six categories.
Instituted by Donate Life America and its partnering organizations in 2003, National Donate Life Month features local, regional and national activities to help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors.
As such, the University of Miami’s Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency, Florida Lions Eye Bank, and Brain Endowment Bank and UMTB Donor Services Foundation, will be promoting National Blue and Green Day and organ donation across South Florida on April 15.
“We help the public understand the life-saving and healing benefits of transplantation, the importance of registering as a donor, and how organ and tissue donation strengthens families and communities,” said Cynthia Smith, communications manager for the Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency.
