With some wearing superhero capes and orange masks, more than a thousand faculty, staff, alumni, and guests turned out for the 2014 Mercedes Benz Corporate Run/Walk in downtown Miami on April 24, increasing Team UM’s participation by 25 percent over last year. View the slideshow below.
Corporate Run packet pick-up starts today, April 21, and will continue until the day of the race, April 24. Please touch base with your team leaders for directions on how to go about picking up your race packets.
If you do not have a designated team leader, you may pick up your race materials at the following locations:
All Coral Gables campus employees and guests can retrieve their race packets at the Herbert Wellness Center’s second-floor Sales Office, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., April 21-23. On April 24, the day of the race, packet pick-up will be available between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Please present a valid identification card at the time of pick-up.
All Miller School of Medicine employees and guests can retrieve their race packets at the Medical Wellness Center front counter, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., April 21-23. On April 24, packet pick-up will be available between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Please present a valid identification card at the time of pick-up.
All RSMAS employees and guests may contact Sandrine Apelbaum at [email protected] for directions on where and how to pick up their race packets.
Participants who are unable to pick up their packet can designate a proxy by sending an email to Edyna Garcia at [email protected]. Please include the following information in the email: your full name, C number, and your proxy’s full name.
RACE DAY ATTIRE
In addition to wearing your Team UM shirt to show your ’Canes pride, remember to wear comfortable clothing and shoes for the race. Race numbers must be clearly visible on the front of the torso during the race, displayed in full view, and may not be folded or cut in any way. Optional items to consider bringing include towels (large or small), bug spray, and a camera. Pack as lightly as you can, and leave personal belongings at the Team UM tent at your own risk.
The Team UM Corporate Run Theme is a Stronger U. Be sure to get creative and dress up as the strongest version of yourself. Employees are being encouraged to incorporate elements of their favorite superhero. For inspiration, please view our Corporate Run Video.

Put on your running shoes and join Team UM for an evening of healthy fun with friends and colleagues. The Corporate Run/Walk, a 5K (3.1-mile) race around downtown Miami, takes place on Thursday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m. from Bayfront Park, with all Team UM proceeds benefiting the United Way of Miami-Dade. Immediately following the race, visit the Team UM tent for food, games, prizes, and more.
There may still be time to be one of the first 800 employees to join Team UM and receive $15 off the $40 registration fee, courtesy of Well ’Canes, plus an official Team UM dry fit shirt. In addition, if you are a participant in the Well ‘Canes Incentives Program, you will receive 250 points toward your incentives goal.

About 530 members of the University of Miami community participated in last Thursday’s 2011 Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run, donning running shorts and shoes and hitting downtown Miami’s streets as part of the popular event organized to promote fitness, company spirit, and teamwork.
