Part of the Cosford Cinema’s summer film series, “Pushing the Limit: Korean New Wave Cinema,” The Red Shoes adapts Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale of the same name into an updated story about a Korean woman who finds a pair of pink slippers on a subway platform. Bringing the shoes home, the single mother becomes obsessed with their surrounding mystery until she realizes she may be caught up in a deadly curse. This film is in Korean with English subtitles. The film screens on Saturday, July 11 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 12 at 4 p.m. Ticket prices are $8 for general admission; $6 for UM faculty, staff, and alumni; and free for students.
