UM-produced film ‘One Water’ to screen at Vizcaya

7:00 pm

One Water, which explores our changing relationship to water as it grows ever more perilously scarce, will screen at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, 3251 South Miami Avenue, Miami, on Tuesday, March 23 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The film, a collaboration among the University of Miami’s School of Communication, College of Engineering, and Frost School of School of Music, highlights a world where water is exquisitely abundant in some places and dangerously lacking in others, where taps flowing with fresh, clean water are contrasted with toxic, polluted waterways that have turned the blue arteries of our planet murky.

After the screening, a panel will contextualize the global challenge of preserving clean and safe drinking water. Panelists will include the film’s producer, co-director, and writer, Sanjeev Chatterjee, vice dean of the School of Communication and executive director of the Knight Center for International Media; editor and co-director Ali Habashi; Kenny Broad, director of the University of Miami’s Leonard and Jane Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy; and Ian Simpkins, chief horticulturalist at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.

Entry and general admission available on-site from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited. RSVP at [email protected] or 305-284-2539. General admission is $15; free for students with ID. Refreshments available for purchase. Students with ID receive one voucher redeemable for select refreshments.
