Shenise Johnson scored 19 points in UM's win over Florida. She and her teammates face North Carolina A&T in tonight's third-round WNIT game at the BankUnited Center.
A berth in the quarterfinals of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament is at stake when the Miami Hurricanes will face North Carolina A&T in a Sweet 16 WNIT matchup at the BankUnited Center today at 7 p.m.
With Miami’s 77-64 win over the Florida Gators in the second round of the WNIT last Sunday, the squad became the first team in program history to win consecutive postseason games.
Now UM (19-13) will hit the hardwood once again to extend its postseason winning streak, going up against a 23-10 Aggies squad that advanced to the Sweet 16 by defeating the Charlotte 49ers last Sunday.
If the Hurricanes are victorious, they will advance to the quarterfinals for an Elite Eight matchup against the winner of the Providence-Maryland game, which is also being played on Thursday.
Miami will be led by sophomore forward Shenise Johnson, who scored 19 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in the team’s win over Florida.
