The Department of Microbiology and Immunology will present a seminar by Mohamed Labib Salem, professor of immunology and biotechnology at Tanta University, Egypt, on Thursday, May 26 at 12 p.m. in the Rosenstiel Medical Science Building, Room 3109. The graduate students of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology will host the 2011 Enrique Cepero Memorial Lecture Series on Thursday, May 5 at 12 p.m. in the Lois Pope LIFE Center, seventh-floor auditorium. Rafi Ahmed, Charles Howard Candler Professor of Microbiology and Immunology and director of the Emory Vaccine Center at Emory University School of Medicine, will present “Immune Memory to Viral Infections.” The annual Enrique Cepero Memorial Lecture Series is held to honor the late Enrique (Henry) Cepero, a graduate of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology, who lost his battle with cancer while pursuing his postdoctoral training at Cold Spring Harbor.
