CORAL GABLES, Fla. (March 7, 2016) – What’s better than a day in the office? A day on the golf course, of course! Especially when it supports the development of the more than 350 student employees at the Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center. The inaugural Norman C. Parsons, Jr. Intramural Golf Tournament is a two-person scramble beginning with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 1 at the Miccosukee Golf and Country Club. The tournament is open to members and non-members of the Herbert Wellness Center and proceeds benefit the DWR Student Employee Development Fund. The registration deadline is Friday, March 18 and spaces are filling up quickly.
“We can only accommodate a limited number of participants,” says Tom Soria, assistant director of intramurals at the Herbert Wellness Center. “We are looking forward to spending an afternoon on the course with the UM community.”
Top-placing teams will be awarded gift cards to the Miccosukee Golf and Country Club Pro Shop. Prizes will also be awarded to the winners of the skills challenges, which include longest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt.
The entry fee – $40 for UM students and $75 for all others – includes a cart, green fees, range balls, a boxed lunch, and a goodie bag, which includes a sleeve of golf balls courtesy of Fitnessmith.
