Miami Clinical and Translational Science Seminar Series: A Virus on the Move: Implications of the Genetic Variability of HIV

The final Miami Clinical and Translational Science Seminar of the semester will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at 4:30 p.m. in the Mailman Center for Child Development, eighth-floor auditorium. Hector Bolivar, assistant professor of clinical medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, will present “A Virus on the Move: Implications of the Genetic Variability of HIV.”

This presentation will examine the genetic diversity of HIV, the classification of HIV in its different types, groups and subtypes, and the current distribution of the viral genetic variants in the world. The presentation will discuss how the high variability is impacting the clinical disease, diagnosis, and implications to develop an effective vaccine.
