Biology Departmental Seminar: Sugar Partitioning in the Pea Aphid: Using Sugar Conversion and Sugar Transport to Deal with an Osmotically Challenging Diet

Nov ’10

12:20 pm

Daniel Price, postdoctoral researcher in the University of Miami’s Department of Biology, will present “Sugar Partitioning in the Pea Aphid: Using Sugar Conversion and Sugar Transport to Deal with an Osmotically Challenging Diet” on Monday, November 1 at 12:20 p.m. in the Cox Science Center, Room 166. Price’s research focuses on how aphids are able to use plant phloem sap as their sole dietary component. He is trying to establish which amino acid transporters are expressed at the symbiotic interface between aphid and Buchnera and how these transporters regulate amino acid supply to Buchnera and transport of essential amino acids to the aphid. For more information about this event, please contact Assistant Professor Alex Wilson at [email protected].
