The Miami-Florida European Union Center of Excellence, a partnership with Florida International University and the Jean Monnet Chair of the University of Miami, will host a lecture by Astrid Boening, EU Center/Jean Monnet Chair postdoctoral fellow. Boening will present “The Union for the Mediterranean and the EU Neighborhood Policy” on Monday, November 8 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Merrick Building, Room 307.

The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will host a seminar by Alexander Perl, assistant professor of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is scheduled for Monday, November 8, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Sylvester in conference room 1301. Xiaodong Cai, associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the University of Miami’s College of Engineering, will present “Computational Identification of Splicing Regulatory Elements” on Monday, November 8 at 12:20 p.m. in the Cox Science Center, Room 166. The Department of International Studies will present “Globalization and Conflict in the 21st Century” on Monday, November 8 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Whitten University Center, Flamingo Ballroom A. The event will feature remarks by Herbert Reginbogin, professor in the Department of International Relations at the European University of Lefke. Bruce Bagley, professor and chair of international studies in UM’s College of Arts and Sciences, will moderate the event.
