International Graduate Law Programs Lecture Series: Domestic Violence as a Human Rights Violation: A Survivor’s Journey

1
12:30 pm

Jessica Lenahan, the first U.S. domestic violence victim to bring a legal challenge against the U.S. before an international human rights tribunal, will speak about her case at the School of Law on Tuesday, February 1 from 12:30 to 1:50 p.m. at the Law Library, Reading Room D201. Her remarks, as well as those by professor Caroline Bettinger-López, are part of the law school’s International Graduate Law Programs Lecture Series.

Lenahan, who is represented by the UM School of Law’s Human Rights Clinic, Columbia Law School, and the American Civil Liberties Union, filed her complaint after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected her due process claims against the Castle Rock, Colorado, police for refusing to enforce her domestic violence restraining order against her estranged husband, who abducted and killed her three young daughters.
