LINK’s semi-annual Locks of Love event will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, February 9-10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the University Center, Room 245. Get a high-quality haircut from the hairdressers of Myra and Company at a great price while helping out a worthwhile cause. Funds benefit the nonprofit charity Locks of Love, which accepts donations of human hair, using the strands to make hairpieces for disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada suffering from long-term hair loss due to any medical condition.

Regular haircuts cost $10 for men and $15 for women. If you donate six or more inches of hair to Locks of Love, your haircut will be free. To make an appointment, go to “Event Sign-Up” at www.TheVolunteerLINK.com. Walk-ins will also be accepted on a limited basis. Appointments fill up fast, so make yours today. For more information, contact special events chair Mike Acosta at [email protected].

The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) offers this lunchtime seminar for those interested in exploring how thoughts can influence health and well-being. While many of us invest a great deal of time and energy into physically caring for our bodies, few of us consider the importance of taking the same care to assure our mindset also supports optimal health. Can we correlate health promotional behaviors and optimal bodily function with positive patterns of thought? Those who see the glass as “half-full” may be on to something. A University of Miami FSAP employee assistance professional will facilitate the seminar. FSAP health and wellness seminars are offered as part of UM’s Well ’Canes Program.

Coral Gables campus: Tuesday, February 8 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the University Center, Room 245.

Rosenstiel School campus: Wednesday, February 9 from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Dean’s Conference Room, SLAB 107.

Miller School of Medicine campus: Thursday, February 10 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Dominion Parking Garage, Room 155.

To register, visit ULearn. For help with ULearn, call the Professional Development and Training Office at 305-284-5110. To receive e-mail announcements of upcoming seminars, call the FSAP at 305-284-6604.
