Mariano Gift to School of Law Celebrated

It’s a happy occasion when a generous man of means extends a hand to students who are eager to learn and, ultimately, prosper on their own.

On Thursday evening, a large gathering that included University of Miami President Donna E. Shalala; School of Law Dean Patricia D. White; and Eugene W. Anderson, dean of the School of Business Administration, congregated in the Storer Auditorium to celebrate the launch of a first-of-its-kind triple-degree program and the man who made it possible. Ride with Heart Bike Ride to Benefit Cardiovascular Division

Dust off those bike pedals and join Ride with Heart, a metric century (62 miles) and half-metric (31 miles) cycling event on Sunday, February 5, starting at 7:30 a.m. The ride will begin and end at the Harbor Shops, 1815 Cordova Road, Fort Lauderdale. Pre-registration is $35; $40 cash or check on the day of the event. Net proceeds benefit the Cardiovascular Division at the Miller School of Medicine. To register, click here. Lowe Art Museum Opens Its Vault to Celebrate 60 Years of Collecting

In celebration of its 60th anniversary, the Lowe Art Museum will present the exhibition “From the Vault: Building a Legacy, Sixty Years of Collecting at the Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami.”

On view January 28 through March 25, the exhibition is a highlight of the Lowe’s distinguished collecting history and draws from some 18,000 works of art, showcasing important objects not currently on view or that may never have been seen by faculty, staff, students, or the general public.

An exhibition preview and lecture will be held on Friday, January 27, from 7 to 10 p.m. Read the full story
