The Cosford Cinema presents the 2012 ‘Canes Film Festival, featuring work from undergraduate and graduate students in the Motion Pictures Program at the University of Miami School of Communication. Films represent multiple genres, including documentary, comedy, drama, and thriller. Admission is free and open to the public.
The films, which screen Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5, are judged by a panel of film and television industry professionals. The judges’ top selections screen Sunday, May 6 as part of the “Best of Fest” celebration. Filmmakers who receive the highest recognition are invited to work with major Hollywood film studios. Screening times are as follows:
Friday, May 4
5 to 9:30 p.m. – Undergraduate film showcase
Saturday, May 5
12 to 2:30 p.m. – Undergraduate film showcase
2:30-3 p.m. – UFilm Studios, a UM organization dedicated to filmmaking
3-5 p.m. – ID Studies
5-6 p.m. – Dinner break
6-8 p.m. – Graduate film showcase
8-9 p.m. – Undergraduate and graduate senior thesis films
9-9:30 p.m. – Awards ceremony
9:30-11:30 p.m. – Reception
Sunday, May 6
7-9 p.m. – “Best of Fest,” featuring the judges’ selection of the best student films
