The University of Miami College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Modern Languages and Literatures will host Anna Tozzi, professor of mathematics and director of the Office for Pedagogical and Research Exchanges and Collaborations at Università degli Studi dell’Aquila, on Monday, April 4 at 4:30 p.m. in Merrick 210-01. H. Carl Gerhardt, Curators Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri-Columbia, will present “Evolution of Vocal Communication in Frogs” on Monday, April 4 at 12:20 p.m. in the Cox Science Center, Room 166. David Scobey, executive dean of The New School for General Studies and Milano the New School for Management and Urban Policy, will present “In Here/Out There: The Arts of Citizenship in a Diverse Democracy (Or, Why Maurice Chevalier Came to Town)” on Monday, April 4 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Jorge M. Perez Architecture Center, Glasgow Hall. Scobey’s talk will address how the arts, humanities, and design act as incubators for civic and community engagement.
