DRI’s Monthly Diabetes Q&A Session to be Held this Wednesday

Miami Clinical and Translational Science Seminar Series: Getting a Project Started: The One-Page Protocol Synopsis

The Miami Clinical and Translational Science Seminar Series continues on Wednesday, January 11 at 4:30 p.m. in the Mailman Center for Child Development, eighth-floor auditorium. Richard A Preston, professor of medicine, chief of the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, and Director of the Clinical Pharmacology Phase I Research Center, will present “Getting a Project Started: The One-Page Protocol Synopsis.”

The lecture will describe a simple and relatively painless technique that can be used as an initial step in the development of a clinical research protocol. The lecture is especially intended for those who are new to clinical research. Attention will be given to selection of study design, determination of endpoints, sample size estimation, and feasibility. SEEDS/Department of Biology Seminar: Lens Regeneration: More than Meets the Eye

Scientists and Engineers Expanding Diversity and Success (SEEDS) and the Department of Biology will host a seminar on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 12:20 p.m. in the Cox Science Center, Room 166. Jonathan Henry, professor and associate head of the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of Illinois, will present “Lens Regeneration: More than Meets the Eye.” Henry’s laboratory focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular events that control the processes of vertebrate lens development and regeneration using the frog Xenopus laevis as the model animal for research. A SEEDS You Choose Award to William Browne, assistant professor in UM’s Department of Biology, supports this seminar.
