The Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Neurology will present “Neurology Update and Stroke Intensive 2012” from January 26-28 at the Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove. The course is designed to provide clinicians with the most recent developments and the latest advances in the different fields of neurology and neuroscience, including epilepsy, sleep disorders, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, and neuromuscular diseases, all of which are critical in solving clinical problems, diagnosing and treating patients, and improving the quality of patient care.
The stroke seminar on Saturday is designed as a stand-alone eight-hour Continuing Medical Education activity to provide the annual CME credits needed for stroke team personnel at designated stroke centers. The course will provide stroke teams with the most up-to-date evidence in the field of stroke diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
This course is directed to adult and pediatric neurologists, neurosurgeons, and psychiatrists, although internists, stroke specialists, cardiologists, and general practitioners may also find the topics timely and useful. In observance of Art Basel Miami Beach, the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Art and Art History will present the fourth ’Cane Fair, featuring artwork of Master of Fine Arts students. Photography, sculpture, prints, installation, ceramics, and paintings are just some of the mediums that will be on display. The exhibition runs from November 29 through January 27, 2012.
Featured artists will include Jacqueline Gopie (painting), Sean Black (photography), Abraham Camayd (printmaking), Michelle Roy (graphic design), Cynthia Fleischmann (photography), Leah Brown (sculpture), and more.
The ’Cane Fair will be held at Wynwood Project Space in conjunction with Art Basel Miami Beach 2011. Wynwood Project Space is located at 2200-A NW Second Avenue, Miami. There will be two opening receptions: Saturday, December 3, from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, December 10, from 2 to 9 p.m. Other viewing times can be arranged by appointment.
