Osher Lifelong Learning Institute takes it lightly with ‘Laughter Yoga’

Laughter has been shown to reduce stress and increase longevity. One can also agree that “laughter is the best medicine” for today’s troubles. The University of Miami’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) looks to remedy society’s current emotional downturn with “Laughter Yoga.” Instructor Christina Farnsworth’s four-week course is slated to take place Wednesdays at 12 p.m. from June 10 through July 1 at OLLI.

The series will explore a unique, hands-on approach to yoga. Concepts such as deep breathing combined with the exercise of laughter will be addressed. The goal of the course is to remind individuals to find a way past difficult situations with laughter.

Admission for OLLI members is $32 for all four classes or $10 per class. A four-week fee of $50 is applicable for non-members or $15 per class. For more information on the programming or to register by Monday, June 8, contact the OLLI office at [email protected] or call 305-284-6554. OLLI is located on the University of Miami Coral Gables campus at 1550 Brescia Avenue.
