Featuring artists from the exhibition Cuba Avant-Garde, this event includes Gustavo Acosta, Carlos Estevez, Rueben Torres Llorca, and Glexis Novoa. A panel discussion, moderated by Helen Ferre of WPBT Channel 2 and El Diario, will be followed by a reception and exhibition viewing at the Lowe Art Museum. The event will be held on Saturday March 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Storer Auditorium. Admission is $10; free for Lowe members. HSBC Private Bank is the event sponsor.

How will Haiti begin to address the destruction of many of its cultural institutions and artifacts? This is just one of the many questions that will be posed at The Global Caribbean Symposium: Interrogating the Politics of Location in Literature and Culture. The conference will take place March 4-6 in Coral Gables and Little Haiti.
The University of Miami Department of English’s Caribbean Literary and Cultural Studies Program and the Little Haiti Cultural Center (City of Miami) are hosting the event. This course, which will take place at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach from March 4-6, will enable clinicians who are actively engaged in perioperative medical care to incorporate the latest findings from clinical research into their practices to improve the quality and safety of their medical care. Evidence-based lectures will be supplemented by clinical cases, and an Audience Response System will be used for exchange of information among faculty and attendees. The conference will include 15-minute question-and-answer sessions after each presentation.
