The Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies will present the documentary Covering Cuba 7, Che: The Other Side of an Icon on Monday, October 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Casa Bacardi, 1531 Brescia Avenue, on the Coral Gables campus.
This documentary profiles the life of the man killed in Bolivia, as well as “Che,” the icon, who lives on today. It presents the real man behind the myth, his legacy, and why he has become so popular among the youth, revolutionaries, and terrorists of the world. This is the seventh documentary of the series Covering Cuba, produced by Agustin Blazquez.

The Launch Pad at Toppel presents the workshop “The Basics of PR” on Monday, October 11 from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. at the Toppel Career Center library. The College of Engineering’s Distinguished Speaker Series gets under way on Monday, October 11 with a lecture by Martin Glicksman, professor of materials science and engineering at the University of Florida and a world-renowned expert on the kinetics of solidification. Glicksman will present “Materials Engineering in Space” from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the McArthur Engineering Annex, Room MEA 202. His presentation will focus on describing the growth of branched crystals under low gravity conditions, as observed during space flights. Light refreshments will be provided.
