Representatives from the Office of Admission and Office of Financial Assistance will conduct an information session for faculty and staff. Participants will learn about the UM admission policies and procedures for undergraduate programs as well as financial aid assistance that may be available.
Miller School campus: Wednesday, October 13 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Retter Auditorium.
Coral Gables campus: Monday, October 18 from 12 to 1 p.m. at the University Center, Flamingo Ballroom B.
If you or your children are applying for undergraduate admission, this would be an important session to attend.

The Department of International Studies and the Center for Latin American Studies, sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Dictatorships, Illiberal Democracies, and Democratic Transitions in Latin America, will present “Colombia’s Future: Transition from Uribe to Santos” on Wednesday, October 13 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Building, Room 116.
Scheduled speakers include Sergio Escobar Solórzano, senior associate at CM, business consultant, and former diplomat; Elvira M. Restrepo, visiting assistant professor in the Department of International Studies at UM; Bruce Bagley, professor and chair of the Department of International Studies; and Magdalena Defort, co-director of the Center for Latin American Studies/Interdisciplinary Research Group on Dictatorships, Illiberal Democracies, and Democratic Transitions in Latin America.

On Wednesday, October 13 at 2 p.m. in room 2055 at the UM School of Communication, the University of Miami Department of Anthropology, Leonard and Jayne Abess Center for Ecosystem Science and Policy, and Center for Latin American Studies present “Reimagining the Amazon: Deep History, Cultural Memory, and the Politics of Nature,” a lecture from Michael Heckenberger, associate professor in anthropology at the University of Florida.
The talk will include recent studies of the Amazon that reveal substantial cultural diversity and dynamic change, including large, densely settled pre-Columbian polities in several areas. Attendance is free and open to the public.
